Meet Our Coaches

Cherri Hobgood, MD, FACEP, FIFEM brings more than thirty years of experience in healthcare, academic medicine, and organizational leadership. She is a tenured professor and an expert in the intersection of gender and leadership. As an academic medicine leader, she has held various leadership roles ranging from medical director to department chair and practice plan president. Her national and international leadership roles include chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians Board of Directors, president of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, president of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Foundation, and secretary of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine Executive. Her research appears in numerous medical journals, including the Journal of Academic Medicine.

 A certified executive coach, Cherri helps women in healthcare and diverse individuals achieve their full leadership potential and organizations create environments where diverse leaders can thrive. Cherri supports her clients by assisting them in finding strategic and creative solutions to navigate all aspects of their life, career, and business.

 Using insight and reflection, Cherri encourages clients to claim their unique leadership identities, gain confidence, and learn to take the calculated risks required for personal and professional growth. Clients creatively explore their agenda, advance their leadership skills, and develop solutions to address doctor burnout and work life balance in healthcare. Cherri’s unique no-nonsense perspective honed by her executive and leadership experiences makes her insightful and efficient at facilitating the growth necessary for clients to maintain an upward trajectory in all stages of their career lifespan. 

 Cherri is a Healthcare Coaching Institute graduate and received her Team Coaching certificate from the Pyramid Group. She currently coaches healthcare executives and senior leaders in industry and academic settings, including faculty from Rush, Penn State, Stanford, UNC, Indiana University, Carolinas Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian, and National Jewish. She founded the Center for Leadership Life to support ongoing research into the development and implementation of strategies that advance and retain diverse leaders and successful organizations.
